Here are interred the remains of the late Samuel Whitewood, Minister of the Baptist Chapel Pellon Lane Halifax for a period of nearly thirty years     He was born at Newbury Berkshire and studied for the Ministry at Stepney College London. His public life and labor (sic) commenced at Andover Hampshire where he resided five years, and afterwards removed to this town in which he spent the remainder of his life and died Octr XXXIst MDCCCLX Aged LXVI years
