Wynteredge Hall, Hipperholme is recorded in 1371.
It was owned by Henry of Coley, and then passed to the Rishworths of Coley.
The name may come from the exposed position of the house.
The double Maltese cross of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem appears on a north gable.
In 1583, Agnes and Edward Kent sold the hall to Gilbert Saltonstall of Rookes Hall. The Saltonstall family owned the hall until 1624. The Saltonstall coat of arms are depicted in plasterwork over a fireplace.
The house was rebuilt around 1642 [?].
The arms of the Horton family of Howroyd, Barkisland from around 1642 are depicted in plasterwork in an upstairs room.

There are a great many images and accompanying Latin inscriptions. One of the outbuildings is inscribed:
