He was educated at Battinson Road Board School, Halifax / a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Methodist Church, Halifax Boys'  Brigade band / a turner for Greenwood Standard Gear Cutting Company Limited.

In [Q4] 1943, he married Joan Pearson in Halifax.

They lived at 42 Woodlands Grove, Boothtown, Halifax.

During World War II, he enlisted [1940], and he served as a Sergeant / flight engineer heavy bomber crew with 466 (R.A.A.F.) Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

He was lost over Germany [18th March 1944] (aged 20), in the same aircraft as Cyril Roberts & Gordon Edgar Doggett.

He was buried at Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany [Grave Ref 7 H 6].

He is remembered in the Halifax Town Hall Books of Remembrance, and on the Memorial at Christ Church, Pellon

Born in Portobello, Staffordshire.

He was a rivetter for lock manufacturer [1911] / employed at the bobbin works of Wilson Brothers at  Cornholme Mill.

He lived at 9 Plane Street, Lydgate, Todmorden.

During World War I, he enlisted [March 1915], and he served as a Sergeant with the Royal Army Medical Corps.

He died of influenza in No.57 General Hospital, Marseilles [21st September 1918].

The Todmorden & District News [4th October 1918] reported his death with a photograph


Sergeant H. Price, R.A.M.C., died at the 57th General Hospital (where he was stationed), France, on the 21st of September.

After 15 months in France he was invalided home and was stationed at Blackpool for a short time.

He returned to in France [July 1917].

Taken ill with influenza and bronchitis [20th September 1918]. He died the following day.

At the outbreak of war, he lived at 9 Plane Street, Lydgate, with his uncle John Price

 

He was buried at Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles, France [Grave Ref III A 33].

He is remembered on Todmorden War Memorial, and on Cornholme War Memorial

James Hainsworth were charged with breaking into, and stealing from, the house of Samuel Hall at Marsh, Southowram.

Both men were found guilty and sentenced to be transported for 10 years.

He was employed at Lord Brothers.

During World War I, he enlisted in Halifax [September 1916]. and served as a Private Notts & Derby (Sherwood Foresters) Regiment, and then with the 32nd Battalion Machine Gun Corps (Infantry).

He died of wounds [3rd October 1918].

Private Sidney Price, Machine Gun Corps, died of wounds at the 12th Casualty Clearing Station on the 3rd of October, aged 19.

Sent to France about ten months ago.

His mother lived at 11 Bacup Road.

His father, Private W. A. Price, fought in the Boer War and is serving with the Lancashire Fusiliers

 

The following week's Edition [18th October 1918] published Sidney's photograph.

He was buried at Tincourt New British Cemetery, France [Grave Ref V H 38].

He is remembered in the Todmorden Garden of Remembrance
