Private Frank Roy Middleton (21), youngest son of Mrs
E. Middleton, of 32 Stoney Hill, Rastrick, is reported missing on
active service.
He is a member of a Commando unit, and has been in the Forces since
June 1940.
Private Middleton's two brothers are also in the Services, one in the
R.A.F. and the other in the R.A.C

for the millworkers of the area.
The building (now demolished) featured on the cover of Ralph Wade's
book Those Were The Days, published by the Brighouse Echo
[1980].
From the 1930s to her death in June 1955, Rachel &
daughter Mary ran the Wharf Inn, Brighouse at
Brookfoot, Brighouse.
Mary retired from the Wharf in the early 1960s, and
died in 1971
