Claremount



Claremount is a district of Calderdale to the north of Halifax.

It was formerly known as Blackcar and Beaumont Town.

At a public meeting – chaired by Thomas Parker – on October 1864, it was decided to change the name Beaumont Town to Claremont

In old documents, it was a part of the ancient Northowram township.

It was once called Beaumont Town.

The name is often written Claremont
